Mine isn't successful (yet) but my tattoo artist told me to keep mine covered for two days, not to bend a lot, and to not wash too much.
I got a fingerstache as my first tat on my 18th birthday (four months ago). The artist wasn't licensed, wasn't even experienced. We were her first tattoos outside of her family.
